Holyhead High School: Holyhead
The refurbishment of Holyhead High School incorporated a number of key features including the construction of new kitchens and a technology block, alterations and remodeling of the existing school.
The new technology block and the replacement of the existing kitchen were designed with a new timber frame structure. In partnership with the client’s design team and the supply chain a timber frame construction was introduced, in-lieu of a steel frame. This solution also meant raft foundations could be used reducing excavation and cartaway. Programme reductions also enabled early use of facilities and eliminated the use of temporary accommodation creating £80k in savings through value engineering.
The refurbishment programme included alterations to the existing dining hall facilities and remodeling of the existing music suite, classrooms, laboratories and corridors. Associated works included external and internal improvements to the façade.
