This contract for the Outpatients Department was awarded by the North West Wales NHS Trust to provide a new outpatients department and refurbished facilities at Ysbyty Gwynedd.
A steel frame building was erected in front of the main hospital and designed to accommodate a second storey at a later date. The external structure was constructed using a polished lignacite block and insulated cavity, with an internal skin consisting of block work and dry lining. The new departmental waiting area, consulting rooms and associated facilities demanded high quality finishes, integrated with mechanical, ventilation, medical gas and electrical installations.
Prior to the completion of this project, the Trust identified the opportunity to house a new Clinical School on a floor above the new Outpatients Department and awarded us this further contract.
Due to the complexity of this project, extensive planning and co-ordination were required to ensure the continued development of a new steel frame building, whilst minimising disruption to the newly opened outpatients facility beneath.
