Community Fund Grants available for Maesgeirchen community Wynne Construction offering community funds for projects located in, or benefitting the residents of Maesgeirchen

Community groups close to the new Ysgol Glancegin in Maesgeirchen, Bangor are being offered the chance to bid for funding for community projects via the main contractor Wynne Construction.

Wynne Construction has been appointed by Gwynedd Council to build the new £5m school that will replace the existing Ysgol Glancegin. The project includes extensive landscaping of the school grounds and a new outdoor play and educational area along with the demolition of the existing building.

The school is due to be open for Autumn 2017 and has been jointly funded by the Welsh Government through the 21st Century Schools Programme and Gwynedd Council.

Chris Wynne, Managing Director, Wynne Construction said: "We are very proud to be working with Gwynedd Council and building the new school in Maesgeirchen, and I hope through establishing this grant fund, it will contribute in a positive way to the community life in the area".

Gwynedd Council's Economy and Regeneration Department will administer the grant – applications for a value of up to £500 will be accepted. The closing date for receiving applications is 21 October 2016.

Councillor Mandy Williams-Davies, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Economy and Community, added: "The construction of the new Ysgol Glancegin is a very important development for the area. As a Council, we welcome this fund which has been set up in the wake of the development and the money will provide groups in the area with an ideal opportunity to develop projects which will benefit the local community."

Wynne Construction yn cynnig cyllid cymunedol ar gyfer prosiectau sydd yn unai wedi lleoli ym Maesgeirchen neu rhai sydd o fudd i drigolion lleol

Mae grwpiau cymunedol yn agos at ysgol newydd Glancegin ym Maesgeirchen, Bangor yn cael cynnig i gyflwyno bidiau am arian sydd ar gyfer prosiectau cymunedol drwy'r prif gontractwr (Wynne Construction).

Penodwyd Wynne Construction gan Gyngor Gwynedd i adeiladu'r ysgol newydd gwerth £5 miliwn yn lle ysgol bresennol Glancegin. Mae'r prosiect yn cynnwys tirlunio eang ar dir yr ysgol ac ardal chwarae ac addysgiadol newydd y tu allan ynghyd  dymchwel yr adeilad presennol.

Disgwylir i'r ysgol agor yn yr hydref 2017 ac mae wedi'i hariannu ar y cyd gan Lywodraeth Cymru drwy Raglen Ysgolion yr Unfed Ganrif ar Hugain a Chyngor Gwynedd.

Dywedodd Chris Wynne, Rheolwr Gyfarwyddwr, Wynne Construction: "Rydym yn falch iawn o gael gweithio gyda Chyngor Gwynedd ac adeiladu'r ysgol newydd ym Maesgeirchen. Rwyf yn gobeithio, drwy sefydlu'r gronfa grant hon, y bydd yn cyfrannu tuag at fywyd cymunedol yr ardal mewn ffordd adeiladol."

Adran Economi ac Adfywio Cyngor Gwynedd fydd yn gweinyddu'r grant - derbynnir ceisiadau am grantiau o werth hyd at £500. Y dyddiad cau ar gyfer derbyn ceisiadau yw 21 Hydref 2016.

Ychwanegodd y Cynghorydd Mandy Williams-Davies, Aelod Cabinet Economi a Chymuned Cyngor Gwynedd: "Mae adeiladu’r Ysgol Glancegin newydd yn ddatblygiad pwysig iawn i'r ardal. Fel Cyngor, rydym yn croesawu'r gronfa hon sydd wedi dod yn sgil y datblygiad a bydd yr arian hwn yn cynnig cyfle ardderchog i grwpiau yn yr ardal i ddatblygu prosiect er budd y gymuned leol."
