Wynne Construction has won a twelve month contract for the construction of a new two storey teaching block at Ysgol Glan y MÔr, based in Pwllheli. Awarded by Gwynedd County Council, this £2.5m refurbishment is part of a scheme to enhance and extend a number of schools in the County.
Commenting on the contract award, Chris Wynne, Managing Director, commented: "We are delighted to have won this contract and to be able to provide new and improved teaching and learning facilities at Ysgol Glan y MÔr. This project highlights our ongoing commitment and continued success in the education sector."
The scope of work incorporates demolition of the classrooms to the south of the School Hall and the construction of the new two storey teaching block and administration facilities. The corridor, which provides the link between the new facility and the existing building will also be refurbished. The work will also include thermal upgrade and re-roofing of the existing flat roof and facade refurbishment to the kitchens and first floor accommodation.
The whole school refurbishment will be phased to reduce any disruption to the school and the pupils and to ensure that the school can continue to function effectively during the next twelve months.
