Wynne Construction is one of seven firms to have been appointed to the North Wales £200m Schools and Public Buildings Contractor Framework.
The Framework is a joint project funded by the Welsh Government's Department for Education and Skills and is led by Denbighshire and Flintshire County Councils on behalf of the six North Wales local authorities, including Conwy County Borough Council, Gwynedd County Council, Wrexham County Borough Council and the Isle of Anglesey County Council.
Whilst the Framework will also include a range of wider public building developments across North Wales, its focus is on delivery of the high-profile 21st Century Schools Programme across the region. The 21st Century Schools Programme is a unique collaboration between the Welsh Government, the Welsh Local Government Association and local authorities aimed at delivering a generation of 21st century schools in Wales.
The programme will span the next four to seven years with all six Local Authorities already committed to a number of projects.
Wynne Construction has been appointed to two lots allocated on the Framework, which include: Lot 1 projects, valued at £4.35 - £7.5 million and Lot 2 projects valued at £7.5 - £15 million.
Dr Mohammed Mehmet, Chief Executive of Denbighshire County Council said: "This framework aims to maximise the benefits of the projects to the local community and sustain economic development. The main driver for this project is to obtain value for money from public procurement and deliver community benefits across the region. Considerations will include training and employment targets, prompt payments of sub-contractors, opportunities for supported businesses, education, work experience, community initiatives and open opportunities for small medium enterprises".
Chris Wynne, Managing Director, Wynne Construction, said: "As an established construction company in North Wales, we are delighted to have been appointed to this Framework. I am very proud of my team for all their hard work during the procurement process. Our proven experience in schools and public buildings equips us to deliver projects within this Framework to a high standard. It will also enable us to offer employment to a number of local skilled workers across the region, as well as offering valuable opportunities for the future".
