Wynne Construction has been awarded the contract to build the new £2.4m storage and transhipment depot for haulier Edge Transport at Deeside Industrial Estate, a move that will drive growth in jobs and clients to the area.
Jonathan Edge, managing director of Edge Transport, said: "As a company which has constantly evolved through the years we are now ready to embark on a period of significant expansion. By moving to new premises we will increase our capacity without compromising the quality of our service, in turn helping us to target new clients, increase the workforce, and drive growth."
Jonathan Edge added: "We are delighted to be partnering with Wynne Construction, a long-standing family business with a strong quality ethos similar to ourselves."
Edge Transport is one of the region's leading hauliers. Founded in 1933, it is a third generation family business operating a fleet of more than 35 vehicles. The company specialises in providing quality pallet delivery, distribution, and warehousing solutions to its customer base of more than 300 clients. Edge Transport will be relocating from its existing premises in Llay to the new Deeside facility in May 2015.
Chris Wynne, Managing Director of Wynne Construction said, "Along with our proven experience in the commercial sector which will enable us to deliver the project to a high standard, providing new and modern facilities, we are proud to have won this contract and to be working with a third-generation family business similar to Wynne Construction. As both North Wales-based companies, we aim to provide local employment and valuable opportunities for the future."
The new depot consists a new transhipment building, office building and large purpose-built warehouse facility. The existing truck parking within this area is being retained. The southern part of the site has planning permission for a further warehousing facility to meet future demand.
